Syracuse fell to 6-3 on the season, and 3-3 in the ACC after a heartbreaking 37-31 loss to Boston College on the road last week. Syracuse’s ACC-worst run defense has emerged as a serious problem for the team, after allowing 313 rushing yards in their loss on Saturday.
California, in their first showdown with the Orange since joining the ACC, find themselves similarly tired of near-miss losses. The Golden Bears have lost four games by a combined nine points this season, leaving Cal just 13 points away from controlling its own destiny in the College Football Playoff race.
The Orange will look for more standout performance from Kyle McCord, who leads the ACC in passing at 350.3 yards per game. But this time, McCord will have to contend with Cal’s defensive back Nohl Williams, who leads the conference with 7 interceptions, and Xavier Carlton, who is third in sacks with 9.
